“Serendipity” Leaves Tompkins Square ParkPosted on April 25, 2014 by tigh
In June 2013 Tompkins Square Park welcomed “Serendipity”, a sculpture by Fannie Allie and in April 2014, the sculpture has left.
This was an interesting sculpture mostly because it outlined the silhouette of Charles Gamble, a former park regular. Many people were seen taking pictures of themselves within the outline and it was a beloved piece by park-goers.
The work was originally only to remain in the park until November, but received an extension stay until April.
The sculpture will now be spending some time in Miami in the backyard of an East Villager- even though the artist does wish the piece could remain in the park.
